Conditional Sentences (조건문) — Type 2 (가정법 과거)

핵심 개념: Type 2 조건문은 현재나 미래에 실현 가능성이 낮거나 반사실적인 상황을 표현할 때 사용합니다.

구조: If + 주어 + 과거동사, 주어 + would/could/might + 동사원형

⚠️ 포인트: be 동사는 주어에 상관없이 were를 씁니다. (특히 격식체/시험에서)

If I had more time, I would learn Spanish. → 시간이 더 있다면 스페인어를 배울 텐데. (현실: 시간이 없음)
If she were the CEO, she would change the company culture. → 그녀가 CEO라면 회사 문화를 바꿀 텐데. (현실: 그녀는 CEO가 아님)
If we lived closer to the office, we could walk to work. → 사무실에 더 가까이 산다면 걸어서 출근할 수 있을 텐데.
If he knew the answer, he wouldn’t be asking us. → 그가 답을 안다면 우리한테 묻지 않겠지.
If I were you, I’d talk to the manager directly. → 내가 너라면 매니저한테 직접 얘기할 텐데. (흔히 쓰는 조언 표현)

10	Wrap up	마무리하다, 끝내다	“Let’s wrap up this meeting — we’re running over time.”

“I’ll follow up with the client tomorrow morning.” → 내일 아침 고객에게 후속 연락을 할게요.

“Can you bring up the pricing issue in today’s meeting?” → 오늘 회의에서 가격 문제를 꺼내줄 수 있어?

“We need to figure out why the API is failing.” → API가 왜 실패하는지 알아내야 해.

“She came up with a brilliant solution during the brainstorm.” → 그녀는 브레인스토밍 중에 훌륭한 해결책을 생각해냈어.

“I ran into some issues with the deployment this morning.” → 오늘 아침 배포하다가 몇 가지 문제에 부딪혔어.
