📚 오늘의 문법: 동명사 vs 부정사 (Gerund vs. Infinitive)
개념 설명
동사 뒤에 다른 동사가 올 때, 동명사(-ing) 또는 부정사(to + 동사원형) 중 어느 형태를 써야 할지가 중요합니다.
동명사만 취하는 동사: enjoy, finish, avoid, consider, suggest, keep, mind, practice
I enjoy swimming. / She avoided making eye contact.
부정사만 취하는 동사: want, decide, hope, plan, promise, refuse, agree, manage
He decided to leave. / They agreed to help.
둘 다 되지만 의미가 달라지는 동사:
- remember + -ing: 과거에 한 것을 기억 → I remember meeting her.
- remember + to V: 해야 할 것을 기억 → Remember to lock the door.
- stop + -ing: ~하는 것을 멈추다 → He stopped smoking.
- stop + to V: ~하기 위해 멈추다 → He stopped to smoke.
